Awareness is one of the most specific yet subtle gems of the
human consciousness. The moment of awareness acknowledges the
precondition of not knowing which leads me to ponder, how does a person survive
when unaware? It is humbling and awe-inspiring to become aware. I often
recite: become aware and then adjust accordingly, as it is almost impossible to operate as
one who is unaware once becoming aware. Despite the innumerable
transitional formations of awareness and adjusting, the author of 1
Thessalonians 5 challenges believers to rejoice always, pray continually
and give thanks in all circumstances, acknowledging that this is God’s will for
me in Christ Jesus – and I am fully aware of the potentials that await when
operating in God’s will.
Bishop Bronner logistically claims that these
attitudes – rejoicing, prayerful and thankful – are the gateways to God’s
miraculous blessings, and God WANTS to bless me, miraculously. Therefore,
I would surmise that these attributes of attitudes are a part of my genetic
makeup. Why would God want me to operate in a manner that goes against my
natural design?
I am a child of the light and a child of the day. I
do not belong to the night or to the darkness. As such, those who sleep,
sleep at night like those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since I belong
to the day, I should be sober, not staggering but, with circumspect, in motion,
guided by faith, love and the hope of salvation. I do not know ‘what
comes next’, as what may come will come like a thief in the night. But just as
I am unsure about what comes next, I can always predict my attitude and
attributes for what may come – rejoicing always, praying continually and giving
thanks in all circumstances.
